What is a halftone stencil?
A halftone stencil turns a photo into a field of dots. Large dots where the image is dark, small dots where it is light. Up close it reads as a pattern. From ten feet back your eye blends the dots into the original face. Newspapers printed photographs this way for a century, and street artists have been cutting the same trick into card and mylar since the 80s. One layer, one can of paint, and a portrait goes up in under a minute.

What photos make the best halftone stencils?
